Kids Day in Maricopa!

Last Saturday, Maricopa hosted it's 4th annual Kid's Day event! I decided to take Laila and her very best friend, Kaytlyn. Dustin stayed home with the little ones and off we went! We didn't stay too long, maybe an hour or so, but we sure had fun!

So excited! Here we go!

Waiting for the "fire" to start in the fire house simulator!

Those darn fire-fighters! They caught the stove on fire!

The drill was so real! Crawling along the floor to safety!

The petting zoo...where we did zero petting!

Waiting in line for tickets!

Kaytlyn, Laila, and Smokey the Bear!

See food!!

Kaytlyn and "Lilly"

Ready to ride!

Laila and "Stormy"

Laila's first time on a horse!

Saying goodbye!

Party Time!

My sweet husband works his hands to the bone so my children and I can have the life we do. Endless hours of overtime, holidays missed, vacations postponed, and plenty of heartbreak. I suppose too often it goes without saying just how much we appreciate him, and what he does to keep our family afloat. To show my appreciation, I decided to throw him a little "meet and greet" type of party to introduce him to some of my newer friends here in Maricopa. When I created the invite online, I ended up inviting a few more people than I originally intended...

...but it all turned out ok! Drinks were had, food was enjoyed, and there was plenty of laughter!

Check out those gorgeous ladies!

Oops! We wore the same shirt!

Yes, my sweet rolls are THAT GOOD!

Who's kid is who's?

Me with some sweet cheeks!

Bobbi-Jo...so THIS is why you spent the night?!

Andrea and Lenny! Adorable!

And drunk. Wendy, I love you.

I love these girls!!

Evelien and Rebecka showed up just in time!

Have another one, Dayna!

Joli and Jennifer...trouble!

That good, huh Big D?

And FINALLY! I managed to get the pen to stand up against the beer!
A big fat thank you to all who came, I know I had a blast! See you soon!

Pre-Dinner Photos!

As part of my "move forward-don't look back" plan, I've forced myself to dress nice, apply makeup, and spritz on a splash of body spray before I leave the house each day and enter into civilization. Tonight just happens to be pretty spectacular-we're having dinner at a friend's house. Wednesday nights have sure made a spectacle of themselves, and the girls and I didn't want to miss out!!

Light Reading

Tonight, I took a bath. Sounds simple enough, but considering I haven't done so in months, it was pretty darn spectacular! Don't get me wrong, I bathe on a daily basis, but what I don't do is soak in the tub, grab a book, and enjoy the peace and quiet. With Dustin working late, the kids asleep, and the house quiet as can be, I took the opportunity to catch up on a little light reading. Wonderful doesn't even begin to describe how I felt tonight!

The things I used to take for granted are now luxuries seemingly of the past. Great jeans, a hot bath, a silent car ride or nights out with friends-I never realized how much I missed those things until they became slim to none. In the midst of letting the things I cherished go, I let other things slip by the wayside as well.

Recently I've decided to embark on a new journey. Sort of a "look ahead-get hot and sexy, ditch the past-don't look back " plan. Instead of setting large, unrealistic goals I have no real intentions of meeting, I have made an improved list of small, realistic goals I have every intention of reaching, and hopefully surpassing.

Starting this week, the little changes I have made have really brought up my whole overall confidence level. Who ever thought applying a touch of makeup or packing up old clothes to make room for new ones would feel so amazing? I love the way these little milestones are already paving the way to greater things, and I can't stop now! High heels, self esteem, and Sephora, here I come!

Happy Labor Day!

Holidays are always special at the Smith house, even if they're not a holiday celebrated by gifts or flashing lights. Happy Labor Day!
